Even though Virginia High Varsity Bearcats gave up three runs in the fourth inning, they still defeated Johnson County 8-5 on Saturday. Johnson County’s big inning was driven by singles by Payton Pavusek, Jennings, and Graham Reece.

Virginia High Varsity Bearcats got things moving in the first inning, when Ollie Foy singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

Virginia High Varsity Bearcats put up five runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught by Virginia High Varsity Bearcats was led by EJ Hucks, Devin Lathrop, Cody Griffith, Cooper McVey, and Bhraedon Meredith, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Luke Whitt earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Virginia High Varsity Bearcats. The fireballer went three innings, allowing two runs on five hits and walking zero. Dashaun Taylor and Calloway Jordan entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Taylor recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Virginia High Varsity Bearcats.

Kaden Blevins took the loss for Johnson County. The bulldog surrendered five runs on five hits over one and one-third innings.

Virginia High Varsity Bearcats had eight hits in the game. Griffith and McVey each had multiple hits for Virginia High Varsity Bearcats. McVey and Griffith each collected two hits to lead Virginia High Varsity Bearcats.
