Ollie Foy came to the ballpark and meant business on Tuesday, driving in five on three hits to lead Virginia High Varsity Bearcats past Radford Bobcats 19-1 on Tuesday. Foy drove in runs on a single in the second, a single in the third, and a single in the third.
In the first inning, Virginia High Varsity Bearcats got their offense started when Cody Griffith grounded out, scoring one run.
Virginia High Varsity Bearcats scored nine runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to walks by Griffith and Devin Lathrop, singles by Foy and Foy, and an error on a ball put in play by Luke Whitt and EJ Hucks.
Whitt earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Virginia High Varsity Bearcats. The fireballer went five innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out four and walking one.
Hunter Hancock took the loss for Radford Bobcats. Hancock surrendered nine runs on five hits over two and a third innings, striking out two.
Virginia High Varsity Bearcats tallied 13 hits on the day. Foy, Dashaun Taylor, Lathrop, Cooper McVey, and Whitt all collected multiple hits for Virginia High Varsity Bearcats. Foy went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Virginia High Varsity Bearcats in hits.
Brett Farmer led Radford Bobcats with two hits in three at bats.
