Fireman Bhraedon Meredith came through once again for the Bearcats as they claimed the Championship of the Southwest District Tournament with an 8-7 last inning win over Marion. Meredith banged out three hits with two RBI’s but that wasn’t enough as he also came in relief of starting pitcher Isaac Berry and closed the threat with seven pitches in a tie game situation. Virginia High and Marion scrapped the entire night and the Bearcats were just not able to keep the Hurricanes at bay giving up two runs in the seventh to give Marion new life. Brody Jones and Ty Weaver each received bases on balls and moved up to second and third on a Marion error. Isaac Berry drew an intentional walk and in steps Meredith to end the game with an RBI single up the middle.Jones and Weaver each had two hits and the remainder of the Bearcat hits were scattered through the lineup. Meredith earned the win with his brief appearance.
