Virginia High used pitching, defense and a couple of ‘make it happen’ base runners to take a 2-0 win over 2nd place Tazewell. In their earlier meeting at Tazewell, the Bearcats took it on the chin with a 12-6 loss. It was Senior Night at Devault Stadium and Virginia High would not roll over this time around. Isaac Berry got the complete game shut-out with nine strikeouts and no bases on balls. Berry gave up five hits. Virginia High played excellent defense and actually should have held a couple of base runners off but for the close calls going the other way. The Bearcats were only able to post three hits of their own but they made them count. Dalton Taylor started the game with a base hit and after making his way to third, scored on a passed ball. The second inning started with two quick outs but a hit batter and a base on balls allowed Conner Davidson to pick up an RBI base hit.
