Virginia High laid claim to the Highlands District lead with an 11-2 win
over Lee. The Bearcats banged out eleven hits to match the scoring total
with Willie Oakes banging a double, triple, two RBI's and scoring twice.
Zak Messer contributed a single and a triple with three RBI's all in the
first inning. VHS plated seven runs in the wet bottom half of the first
inning to take command early. Preston Smith belted an RBI double, a
single and scored twice. Brandon Arnold also had a pair of hits. Justin
Grimm continued his winning ways with a complete game giving up three
hits and striking out eleven pushing his record to 5-0. Virginia High
will take a breather with their next game six days out when John Battle
pays a visit to the Bearcats.
