Bearcats take wild
12-11 win over Sullivan East

4/25/07 Virginia High took a wild 12-11 comeback win over Sullivan East. The two teams combined for twenty-six hits to score twenty-three runs. VHS trailed by a score of 11-6 going into the bottom of the fourth and managed to shave the lead by scoring a run. VHS kept the Patriots at bay and chipped away with a pair of runs in the fifth to creep back in range. In the sixth, VHS put together three hits and took advantage of a pair of errors to take the lead and the win. Designated hitter Brent Davenport helped keep the Bearcats going with a four for five night with four RBI's. Davenport stood at the plate with the score tied in the bottom of the sixth and a runner at third. Already four for four, the Patriots missed their chance to end the inning when Davenport's grounder to second was thrown away allowing the Bearcats to take the lead. Hunter Greer also performed well at the plate with a three for four night including a triple, two singles, one RBI and scoring three runs on the bases. Zak Messer, Willie Oakes, Preston Smith and Tyler Arnold all had two hits. Messer earned the win on the mound in relief.
